Introduction

In the years 2007 and 2008, the Port of Rotterdam Authority published in addition to the Financial Statements an Annual Report describing our efforts in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). We have received assurance from our external auditor for the 2008 CSR report.

This year we are presenting both subjects in a single, integrated Annual Report. We have decided to do this because CSR (sustainable, committed and transparent) is an integral part of our business operations.

We continue to work on the quality of our report, paying particular attention to the readability, as well as having the content checked externally. In addition to the Financial Statement, the text of the Annual Report has been assessed by the external auditor and, in line with the integrated character of the Annual Report, the complete document has been provided with an integrated auditor’s report. Furthermore, the level of compliance with the G3 guidelines have been tested by Global Reporting Initiative, a non-governmental organisation that develops worldwide standards for CSR annual reports. 

Finally, our Annual Report will be published only in online form on our website, where you can download the entire Annual Report as a PDF file. This year you also have the option of personalising your Annual Report. By selecting the parts you want, you can compile your own Annual Report which you can then download or print out.
